Kindness,Starts Here

Bringing people together to support meaningful causes, strengthen community connections, and make showing up for one another easier.

About Kind RI

A Little Kindness Can Stay With Youfor a Lifetime.

Kind Rhode Island grew from founder Margaret Brassard’s own experience of receiving kindness when she needed it most.

As an immigrant building a life in Rhode Island, Margaret remembers the people who stepped forward to help without making her feel less than. Their generosity stayed with her. Years later, that gratitude became RI Acts of Kindness, a platform created to celebrate the good happening around us and inspire more people to take part in it.

Today, RI Acts of Kindness brings people together around a simple purpose: find meaningful ways to help, create opportunities for connection, and use community to support organizations and people doing important work. The initiative has grown through events, partnerships, collections, fundraising efforts, and people willing to show up for a cause.

RI Acts of Kindness has brought the community together in support of organizations and initiatives including Adoption Rhode Island, Madres Para La Educación through the RI Education Collective, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rhode Island, and Shea Fashion.

Events such as Color Me Kind and Women in Bloom combine community, conversation, giving, and connection with a specific opportunity to support others. More than 150 people attended one RI Acts of Kindness brunch, showing how one gathering can introduce an entire room of people to a shared cause.
